Kashmir Ahead

Kashmir overtakes Bangkok as top choice for Delhi and Amritsar destination weddings

Kashmir, March 11,2026-In a significant shift in wedding tourism trends, families from Delhi and Amritsar are increasingly choosing Kashmir over international destinations such as Bangkok for hosting lavish destination weddings. With its breathtaking landscapes, luxury hospitality, and unique cultural experiences, Kashmir is rapidly emerging as a favourite destination for grand weddings.

Tour operators and tourism officials say the region is witnessing a growing demand from families seeking scenic yet culturally rich venues for wedding celebrations. The snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes, lush gardens, and traditional Kashmiri hospitality make Kashmir an ideal location for couples looking to celebrate their special day in a memorable setting.

Managing Director of Gauri Tour & Travels, Gauri Yadwad, said that Kashmir offers all the essential ingredients required for a perfect destination wedding. According to her, the region combines natural beauty with world-class hospitality, making it an attractive choice for families planning grand celebrations.

“Kashmir offers scenic venues, rich cuisine, cultural experiences and warm hospitality, which together create a complete destination wedding experience,” she said, adding that the valley has become increasingly popular among families from major cities who want unique wedding celebrations without traveling abroad.

Tourism authorities also believe that the region’s versatility makes it a year-round wedding destination. Raja Waseem, Deputy Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, said that Kashmir is an all-weather wedding destination capable of hosting both intimate and large-scale events.

“The Department of Tourism is always there to support and facilitate grand events in Kashmir. We work closely with event planners, hotels and travel operators to ensure smooth arrangements for destination weddings,” he said.

With improved connectivity, expanding hospitality infrastructure and growing interest from wedding planners, Kashmir is steadily positioning itself as a global wedding tourism hotspot. Industry stakeholders believe that if the current trend continues, the valley could soon rival popular international wedding destinations.
