Jammu & Kashmir gets ₹10,637 crore boost for 19 National Highway projects

Kashmir, February 25,2026-The Government of India has approved 19 National Highway projects in Jammu & Kashmir, with a total investment of ₹10,637 crore, signalling a major infrastructure push in the region.

These projects go beyond building roads—they are lifelines for the Himalayan region, directly impacting access to healthcare, supply chains, agriculture, and tourism. Improved highways will ensure faster access to hospitals, reliable delivery of essential supplies during winter, efficient transport of farmers’ produce to markets, and safer, more convenient travel for tourists.

Officials emphasised that the highway expansion will also enhance regional connectivity, promote economic growth, and strengthen integration within Jammu & Kashmir, while providing strategic advantages in border areas.

The development underlines the government’s commitment to modern infrastructure and sustainable development in challenging terrains, transforming lives and boosting confidence among residents and visitors alike.
