Reasi, Feburary 21,2026- In a major stride towards clean energy adoption, Reasi district is witnessing a solar transformation with 365 rooftop solar plants installed under the flagship PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
The initiative aims to promote renewable energy at the household level by enabling families to generate their own electricity, significantly reduce power bills, and avail government-backed subsidies. The scheme is not only easing the financial burden on households but also encouraging sustainable living practices across urban and rural areas.
Officials revealed that the response from residents has been overwhelmingly positive, with 1,559 applications currently under process, indicating a growing awareness and enthusiasm for solar energy solutions in the district.
By harnessing rooftop solar power, Reasi is contributing to India’s broader renewable energy goals while reducing dependence on conventional power sources. The initiative is also generating local employment opportunities in installation, maintenance, and technical services, further boosting the district’s green economy.
