Jammu , February 19,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing a profound transformation since 2019, with accelerated development, restoration of ancient glory, and a decisive crackdown on terrorism.
Speaking at the release of the book ‘Kashmir–Nativity Regained’ authored by Prof. Ashok Kaul at the University of Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor asserted that tireless efforts by the government have helped dismantle the sinister designs of adversaries who sought to derail peace and progress in the Union Territory.
“Through relentless efforts, this land’s ancient glory has been restored and development has been accelerated. Very soon, this soil will be completely freed from the scourge of terrorism,” the LG said.
Reiterating the government’s commitment towards the return of displaced communities, Sinha said that the dignified and secure rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits remains a firm commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the government is working steadfastly to ensure their safe return with full dignity and security.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir today stands at a new threshold of peace, stability, and growth. He said infrastructure expansion, economic reforms, and grassroots governance have transformed the socio-economic landscape of the region.
Referring to the book, Sinha said ‘Kashmir–Nativity Regained’ offers a deeply moving account of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus, documenting the trauma, terror, and devastation endured during those dark days. He noted that the book captures the pain of being uprooted from ancestral homes and underscores the importance of preserving historical truth.
The LG commended Prof. Ashok Kaul for chronicling a significant chapter of Kashmir’s history and contributing to public discourse on reconciliation, justice, and restoration of identity.
He further said that attempts by hostile elements to destroy the dreams and destiny of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been decisively defeated, and the region is steadily moving towards lasting peace and prosperity.
