Udhampur, February 15,2026- A huge rush of devotees was witnessed across temples in Udhampur district on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, as thousands of pilgrims thronged shrines to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Since early morning, long queues were seen outside prominent temples, with devotees chanting hymns and performing special rituals. The atmosphere resonated with religious fervour as worshippers offered milk, water, and bael leaves to the Shivling, observing fasts and participating in night-long prayers.
Temple premises were beautifully decorated with flowers and illuminated with lights, adding to the festive spirit. Authorities made elaborate security and traffic arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations and manage the heavy footfall.
Religious leaders highlighted the spiritual significance of Maha Shivratri, describing it as a sacred occasion symbolising devotion, self-discipline and the triumph of faith. Devotees prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of their families.
The celebrations concluded peacefully, reflecting the deep-rooted religious traditions and communal harmony of the Jammu region.
