Udhampur, February 11,2026: In a significant step toward women empowerment and skill development, 33 rural women in Udhampur have begun a 31-day free tailoring training programme under a Government of India initiative. The programme aims to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in rural areas.
The training focuses on equipping participants with practical skills in tailoring, stitching, garment designing, and basic entrepreneurship, enabling them to generate income and support their families. Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen rural women empowerment in Jammu & Kashmir through structured skill development programmes.
Beyond technical training, the programme is helping participants build confidence, independence, and financial awareness. By learning market-oriented tailoring skills, these women are preparing to start their own ventures or join local self-help groups (SHGs) to expand their earning potential.
Authorities emphasized that such women skill development programmes in Udhampur play a crucial role in fostering inclusive growth, reducing unemployment, and promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat at the grassroots level.
