Pulwama, January 25,2026-In the aftermath of heavy snowfall across south Kashmir, the Indian Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) has stepped up relief operations to support snow-affected families in Pulwama district, providing timely humanitarian assistance amid harsh winter conditions.
Army personnel have been actively distributing essential food items, medical supplies and winter relief material to residents in remote and vulnerable areas where normal life was severely disrupted due to snow accumulation and road blockages. The relief drive aims to ensure that no family is left without basic necessities during the ongoing cold wave.
As part of the operation, troops of 55 RR are also engaged in clearing snow-covered roads, restoring connectivity to cut-off villages and facilitating the movement of emergency services. Medical teams accompanying the Army columns are offering on-spot medical assistance, especially to the elderly, children and those suffering from cold-related ailments.
Local residents have appreciated the swift response of the Indian Army, acknowledging its continued role in disaster relief and humanitarian assistance in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly during extreme weather events.
The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to standing with the people of Kashmir during times of crisis, stating that relief and rescue operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored in snow-hit areas of Pulwama.
