Pulwama’s Entrepreneur Starts Organic Fertiliser Unit, Sees District-Wide Demand For ten years I have worked as a Biotechnology teacher. My younger brother is M Sc in Biotechnology. He gave a suggestion to start an organic fertiliser unit in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. So we started in 2018. We started a small vermi compost unit. The Department of Agriculture helped us in it, said Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, an organic farmer in Pulwama They gave us guidance and financially supported us. A lab was established with the help of HADP. We purchased the material locally and some from dairy, and farmers collect cowdung and we prepare manure here and put vermi culture and do processing. It takes around three months. In a year, three batches are produced. The manure is chemical-free and 100% organic. We add our bio fertilisers. We get demand from the whole district. We are not able to fulfill all the demands, said Bilal. We request people not to chase government jobs but lokk for self employment in government schemes, agriculture and horticulture departments.
