Srinagar, January 23,2026- In a significant move to improve connectivity in the Kupwara and Bandipora districts, the Jammu & Kashmir government has launched a dedicated helicopter service for residents of remote and hard-to-reach areas. The initiative aims to facilitate faster travel, emergency services, and better access to administrative and healthcare facilities.
The helicopter service will connect remote villages and towns with major hubs, ensuring that residents no longer have to endure long and challenging road journeys. Officials highlighted that the service will also be used for medical emergencies, disaster response, and the transportation of essential supplies, especially during adverse weather conditions when road connectivity is disrupted.
Local authorities expressed hope that the new air connectivity would promote economic growth, tourism, and smoother governance in Kupwara and Bandipora. Residents welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that it will save time, enhance safety, and improve overall quality of life for people living in remote areas.
The helicopter service in Jammu & Kashmir underscores the government’s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and strengthening regional connectivity, especially in districts with challenging terrain.
