Kashmir , January 22,2026- An MoU was signed for the establishment of Sh. Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul at the historic Shri Narsingh Dev Mandir, Ghagwal, marking a significant step towards the revival of the Gurukul tradition and the preservation of India’s ancient educational heritage, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The proposed Gurukul aims to promote Sanskrit learning, Vedic studies, and traditional knowledge systems, while integrating them with contemporary educational frameworks envisioned under NEP 2020. The initiative seeks to provide holistic education rooted in Indian values, ethics, and culture.
Officials and stakeholders present at the signing ceremony termed the development a landmark initiative that will strengthen cultural and educational foundations, especially among the youth. They emphasised that Gurukul-based education plays a vital role in character building, discipline, and intellectual growth.
The establishment of the Gurukul at a site of historical and religious significance is expected to enhance cultural preservation, academic research, and community engagement, while reaffirming India’s commitment to its timeless knowledge traditions.
