Kashmir Ahead

Mission YUVA Strengthens Grassroots Outreach Across Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, January 20,2026-Mission YUVA (Youth Upliftment and Volunteer Action) has gathered significant momentum across Jammu and Kashmir, achieving coverage in nearly 95 per cent of panchayats and facilitating loans worth ₹847 crore to 14,887 applicants, officials said.

The flagship initiative, aimed at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth, has emerged as a key pillar of the Union Territory’s inclusive development strategy. By ensuring deep grassroots outreach, Mission YUVA seeks to empower young individuals with financial support, skill development, and mentoring to become job creators rather than job seekers.

Officials said the extensive panchayat-level coverage reflects the administration’s focus on last-mile delivery, ensuring that opportunities reach rural and remote areas. The sanctioned loans have supported a wide range of ventures, including agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, small businesses, services, and startups.

Mission YUVA integrates financial assistance with handholding support, capacity building, and coordination with banks to streamline credit flow. The programme has also strengthened coordination between district administrations, financial institutions, and implementing agencies to ensure timely sanctioning and disbursement of loans.

The initiative aligns with the broader vision of youth empowerment and economic self-reliance in Jammu and Kashmir, contributing to livelihood generation and local economic growth. Officials noted that the strong response from youth highlights growing confidence in government-backed entrepreneurship schemes.

The administration has reiterated its commitment to further expanding Mission YUVA, improving outreach in the remaining panchayats, and enhancing support mechanisms to ensure sustainable livelihoods for young entrepreneurs.

Mission YUVA is seen as a transformative step towards harnessing the potential of J&K’s youth and strengthening the grassroots economy, while advancing the vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
