Udhampur, January 18,2026:Udhampur district is set to commemorate 150 years of the iconic national song ‘Vande Mataram’ with a week-long series of patriotic events from January 19 to 26, celebrating India’s unity, heritage, and national pride.
The district administration has planned an extensive calendar of activities aimed at instilling patriotic values, especially among the youth. The celebrations will feature cultural programmes, patriotic songs, seminars, exhibitions, debates, painting and essay competitions, and heritage awareness activities across schools, colleges, and public institutions.
Special cleanliness drives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be organised at prominent public places, educational institutions, and heritage sites to link nationalism with civic responsibility. An exhibition highlighting the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, its role in India’s freedom struggle, and its enduring relevance will be a key attraction of the celebrations.
The week-long programme will culminate on January 26 with a grand Republic Day celebration, showcasing colourful cultural performances, tableaux, and participation from students, artists, civil society members, and security forces, reflecting the spirit of national integration and collective pride.
District officials said the initiative aims to honour the legacy of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s ‘Vande Mataram’, while fostering a sense of unity, patriotism, and respect for India’s constitutional values.
The celebrations are expected to witness wide public participation, reinforcing Udhampur’s commitment to preserving national heritage and promoting civic consciousness.
