Foundation stone laid for Bari–Seote Link road, ending decades of isolation

Kashmir,January 7,2026- In a major boost to rural connectivity, the foundation stone for the 8-kilometre Bari–Seote all-weather link road was laid in Seote panchayat of Marmat block, marking the end of decades of isolation for the remote area. The road is being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at an estimated cost of ₹21 crore.

The long-awaited project is expected to benefit over 1,300 residents, providing reliable year-round access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets. Locals said the road will significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity with nearby villages and towns.

Officials said the Bari–Seote link road will play a crucial role in boosting socio-economic development, facilitating smoother movement of people and goods, and opening new opportunities for employment and trade. The all-weather design is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even during adverse weather conditions.

Residents of Seote panchayat welcomed the development, calling it a historic moment for the area. They expressed hope that improved road infrastructure would bring better government services and accelerate overall development in the region.

The project reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening rural infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in far-flung and hilly areas, to ensure inclusive growth and development.
