Srinagar, January 5,2026-Kashmir continues to experience severe cold as Gulmarg recorded a chilling -8.8°C, marking one of the lowest temperatures in the region this winter. The sub-zero temperatures have affected daily life, with locals bracing against the extreme cold.
Meteorological officials stated that the cold wave is expected to persist in the valley and hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir, with other areas likely to experience sub-zero conditions during early mornings and late nights. The Tourist town of Gulmarg, known for its ski resorts, also witnessed frost-covered landscapes, creating scenic views but challenging conditions for residents and travelers.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions against the cold, including wearing warm clothing and limiting exposure to open air during peak hours of the chill. Meanwhile, tourism and adventure activities in Gulmarg continue, albeit with necessary safety measures in place due to the extreme winter temperatures.
