Gulmarg, January 3,2026- The picturesque ski resort of Gulmarg witnessed an electrifying atmosphere as the Snow Marathon was successfully organised as a key highlight of the Winter Carnival 2026, drawing athletes, adventure enthusiasts, and tourists from across the country and abroad.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with local authorities, the Snow Marathon showcased endurance sports amid Gulmarg’s pristine snow-covered landscapes. Participants competed across various age and professional categories, running on challenging snow tracks set against the backdrop of the Pir Panjal mountain range.
Officials said the event aimed to promote winter sports, encourage adventure tourism, and position Gulmarg as a global winter destination. The marathon also provided a platform for local youth and professional athletes to demonstrate their talent in extreme winter conditions.
As part of the Winter Carnival 2026, the event was accompanied by cultural performances, local cuisine stalls, and winter sports demonstrations, offering visitors a rich blend of sport, culture, and tradition.
