Srinagar , December 31,2025-The New Year has brought renewed optimism for Kashmir’s tourism sector, with fresh snowfall acting as a much-needed boost after months of subdued activity. The Valley has witnessed a surge in tourist arrivals as popular destinations like Dal Lake and Gulmarg come alive once again, wrapped in a pristine white blanket.
In Srinagar, shikaras have returned to Dal Lake, offering visitors a classic Kashmiri winter experience amid snow-covered houseboats and misty surroundings. Tourism stakeholders say the revival of shikara rides symbolises a broader return of confidence and normalcy in the Valley’s tourism ecosystem.
Gulmarg, one of India’s most sought-after winter destinations, has shed its recent silence as thousands of tourists arrive to welcome the New Year. Hotels, restaurants, and local businesses have reported increased footfall, with visitors enjoying snow activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and cable car rides.
Tourism officials believe the timely snowfall has worked like a “divine reset,” restoring the Valley’s winter appeal and providing much-needed livelihood opportunities for locals dependent on the tourism industry. Authorities have also assured smooth arrangements, enhanced safety, and improved infrastructure to ensure a memorable experience for visitors.
With the New Year beginning on a positive note, hopes are high that Kashmir’s winter tourism will continue to flourish, strengthening the region’s economy and reinforcing its image as a world-class winter destination.
