Srinagar , December 28,2025— As fuel prices continue to climb and power cuts remain a routine challenge, a Kashmiri startup is offering a practical, low-cost mobility solution by converting ordinary bicycles into electric vehicles tailored for everyday use.
The initiative focuses on retrofitting standard bicycles with electric kits, enabling riders to travel longer distances with minimal physical effort and at a fraction of the cost of fuel-based transport. Designed to suit local conditions, these e-bicycles are proving especially useful for milkmen, students, delivery workers, and daily commuters who rely on affordable and reliable transport.
Unlike conventional electric vehicles that require heavy investment and constant charging infrastructure, the converted bicycles are lightweight, energy-efficient, and easy to maintain. They can be charged using basic power sources, making them suitable even in areas affected by frequent electricity outages.
Residents using the e-bicycles say the innovation has reduced daily commuting expenses while saving time and effort. For small vendors and service workers, the conversion has also improved productivity by allowing faster and more consistent deliveries.
The startup aims to promote sustainable transport, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and provide an eco-friendly alternative suited to Kashmir’s urban and semi-rural landscape. With growing interest from local riders, the initiative reflects how grassroots innovation can address real-world problems through simple, scalable solutions.
