Budgam, December 26,2025 — The District Level Committee Budgam has approved 79 beneficiary cases under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0, marking a significant step towards strengthening affordable housing in the district.
The approvals were granted during a meeting of the DLC chaired by senior district officials, where applications were scrutinised as per the guidelines of PMAY-Urban 2.0. The committee reviewed eligibility criteria, documentation, and socio-economic conditions of the applicants before granting clearance.
Officials said the approved cases include beneficiaries from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Groups (LIG), aimed at ensuring access to safe and affordable housing for urban poor families in Budgam. The initiative is expected to improve living conditions while promoting planned urban development.
Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasised the government’s commitment to “Housing for All”, adding that PMAY-Urban 2.0 focuses on transparency, timely implementation, and direct benefit transfer to beneficiaries.
The district administration has directed concerned departments to expedite further formalities so that construction and financial assistance under the scheme can commence at the earliest.
PMAY-Urban 2.0 continues to play a crucial role in addressing housing shortages across Jammu and Kashmir, with Budgam emerging as one of the districts actively implementing the flagship housing scheme.
