DC Budgam reviews arrangements for Republic Day 2026 celebrations

Budgam, December 19,2025-Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Ginga Sherpa , on Tuesday reviewed the preparedness and arrangements for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations, emphasising smooth inter-departmental coordination and seamless conduct of the national event in the district.

During the review meeting, the DC directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of necessary arrangements, including venue preparation, security, traffic management, power supply, sanitation, health services, and contingency planning. Stress was laid on maintaining discipline, punctuality, and adherence to the prescribed programme to ensure a dignified celebration.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of public safety and security, instructing officials to work in close coordination with the police and other security agencies. He also underscored the need for proper seating arrangements, medical facilities, and uninterrupted essential services during the celebrations.

Officials were asked to finalise rehearsal schedules, ensure participation of school children and cultural groups, and make adequate arrangements for flag hoisting, march past, and cultural programmes reflecting the spirit of national unity and patriotism.

The DC reiterated that Republic Day is a national occasion of pride and must be conducted with utmost seriousness and efficiency. Directions were issued to maintain cleanliness, ensure decoration of public buildings, and facilitate smooth movement of invitees and the general public.

Senior officers from line departments attended the meeting and briefed the DC on the status of preparations for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations in Budgam district.
