Jammu, December 16,2025-The Central Government has highlighted significant progress in the development of hydropower and solar energy projects in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring efforts to boost renewable energy capacity and support sustainable growth in the Union Territory.
During a recent review, officials reported that multiple hydropower projects across J&K are advancing steadily, with several nearing completion. The Centre emphasised that these projects will not only meet regional energy demands but also contribute to India’s overall renewable energy targets.
In addition to hydropower, solar energy initiatives are being actively promoted in J&K, with new solar parks, rooftop installations, and decentralised solar systems planned to enhance clean energy access across urban and rural areas. The government noted that these efforts align with the vision of green energy transition and sustainable development.
Authorities highlighted that the development of renewable energy infrastructure in J&K is expected to generate employment, strengthen local economies, and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. The Centre also stressed close monitoring, timely execution, and public-private partnerships to ensure the success of these projects.
The progress in hydropower and solar energy development reflects the Union Territory’s growing role in India’s renewable energy sector, supporting both environmental sustainability and regional economic growth.
