India secures 3-1 win against Wales at Junior World Cup

Kashmir,December 8,2025: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team showcased an impressive performance as they secured a 3-1 victory over Wales in the 9/16 qualification match at the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2025 in Santiago. The win keeps India in contention for the knockout stages of the prestigious tournament.

Goals for India came from Hina Bano (14’), Sunelita Toppo (24’), and Ishika (31’), while Eloise Moat (52’) scored Wales’ lone goal. India started the match with aggressive intent, earning a Penalty Corner within the first 30 seconds. Wales had a chance to take the lead, but India’s goalkeeper Nidhi made a brilliant save on a penalty stroke.

India eventually broke the deadlock in the first quarter when Hina Bano finished a well-executed move orchestrated by Sakshi Rana, setting the tone for the remainder of the match. Sunelita Toppo and Ishika extended India’s lead in the second quarter, before Wales pulled one back late in the match.

The win reflects the team’s discipline, tactical execution, and attacking prowess, keeping hopes alive for a strong finish at the Junior Women’s World Cup.
