Reasi, December 7, 2025 — Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh today virtually inaugurated the Reasi–Mahore road, a critical all-weather highway completed after four years of challenging construction through hilly terrain. The road is expected to enhance connectivity, strengthen security, and spur socio-economic development in Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Stretching across strategically important areas, the Reasi–Mahore road will facilitate quicker movement of defence forces, improve access for local communities, and support trade and tourism in the region. Officials noted that this project will play a crucial role in ensuring year-round accessibility, especially during adverse weather conditions, which previously posed a challenge to mobility in this hilly region.
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the government’s broader efforts to develop border infrastructure, enhance operational readiness, and contribute to the economic upliftment of remote areas. The project is part of a series of initiatives undertaken under the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to strengthen strategic connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that the road will not only support national security objectives but also improve the quality of life for local residents by reducing travel time, easing transportation of goods, and creating opportunities for local businesses and tourism.
The Reasi–Mahore road is seen as a model of engineering perseverance, reflecting the government’s commitment to integrated regional development while ensuring strategic preparedness in border districts.
