Kupwara ,December 6,2025: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara conducted a review meeting to assess the performance and implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. The scheme aims to provide free electricity through rooftop solar installations to eligible households, promoting renewable energy and reducing electricity costs for rural residents.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed pending applications, installation progress, and coordination between implementing officials. He directed the Lead District Manager (LDM) and the Cluster Head to clear all pending cases within one week, ensuring timely benefit delivery to eligible beneficiaries.
The DC also emphasised the importance of raising awareness about the scheme at the village and panchayat levels, so that more households can avail of rooftop solar systems and contribute to sustainable energy use in the district. Officials were urged to maintain close monitoring and coordination to ensure smooth, time-bound execution of the scheme.
The review reflects the administration’s commitment to renewable energy adoption and efficient service delivery under central government initiatives in Kupwara.
