Kashmir, November 27, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Infinity Campus of Indian space start-up Skyroot Aerospace and unveiled its Vikram-I rocket, marking a significant milestone in India’s private space sector.
The Infinity Campus, located near Hyderabad, will serve as a state-of-the-art hub for research, development, and testing of aerospace technologies, providing private space ventures with world-class infrastructure. PM Modi described the campus as a “launchpad for India’s dreams in space” and praised Skyroot’s role in accelerating indigenous satellite launch capabilities.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Vikram-I, Skyroot’s latest small-lift launch vehicle, designed to carry satellites into low Earth orbit. Officials said Vikram-I is a fully private-sector rocket, demonstrating India’s growing prowess in commercial space exploration.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting private participation in space, saying initiatives like these strengthen India’s position as a global space leader. He noted that the private sector, along with ISRO, will play a key role in future space missions, satellite launches, and technology development.
Skyroot Aerospace CEO noted that the Infinity Campus will also provide training for engineers and scientists, support innovation in aerospace propulsion, and foster start-up collaboration in the space ecosystem. The Vikram-I rocket, expected to launch in early 2026, represents a step forward in affordable and reliable access to space for small satellites.
Experts called the event a landmark in India’s space journey, highlighting the potential of private space companies to complement government efforts and expand opportunities in space research, satellite deployment, and commercial space services
