Kashmir, November 22,2025- The innovative ‘Classes of Joy’ initiative is helping transform early-grade education across 458 schools in Kulgam, giving young students an engaging, activity-based learning environment that strengthens foundational literacy and numeracy.
Designed to make classrooms more interactive, child-friendly and joyful, the initiative focuses on play-based learning, storytelling, creative activities and personalised guidance to improve comprehension and retention among early learners. Teachers across the district have adopted new methodologies that encourage curiosity, participation and confidence in students.
Education officials in Kulgam said the programme is already showing positive impact, with improved classroom engagement, better attendance and stronger early learning indicators. They added that ‘Classes of Joy’ aims to build a strong academic base for children, ensuring smoother transitions to higher grades.
Parents and teachers have welcomed the initiative, calling it a meaningful step toward improving the quality of primary education in the district. Authorities plan to further strengthen and expand such programmes to ensure inclusive, joyful and effective learning for every child in Kulgam.
