Kashmir Ahead

J&K tighten their hold as Samad–Wadhwan shift momentum on day 2

Srinagar,November 17,2025: Jammu & Kashmir tightened their grip over the contest against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy 2025 as a solid partnership between Abdul Samad and Shubham Wadhwan powered the team to a commanding 324-run lead by stumps on Day 2.

Resuming the day on a positive note, J&K’s middle order displayed remarkable temperament and shot selection. Abdul Samad, known for his counter-attacking style in domestic cricket, stitched together a crucial stand with Wadhwan, frustrating the Hyderabad bowlers for long sessions. Their partnership not only steadied the innings but also pushed J&K into a dominating position in the Ranji Trophy J&K vs Hyderabad match.

Hyderabad’s bowlers struggled to break through the resistance as both batters rotated the strike smartly and capitalised on loose deliveries. The duo’s consistency ensured that Jammu & Kashmir maintained momentum throughout the day, turning the advantage firmly in their favour.

Earlier, J&K bowlers had restricted Hyderabad effectively on Day 1, setting the stage for the batters to take control. With a lead now exceeding 300 runs, the hosts are well-placed to dictate terms heading into Day 3.

Team management is confident of pressing for an outright win, with the bowlers expected to exploit favourable conditions in the second innings. Hyderabad, meanwhile, face an uphill task and will need a resilient batting effort to stay in the game.

The strong performance marks another impressive outing for J&K in the Ranji Trophy 2025 season, reflecting the side’s growing maturity and competitive edge in India’s premier domestic cricket championship.
