Srinagar, October 6,2025: A delegation from the Pashmeena Entrepreneurs Makers and Artisans (PEMA) Foundation, led by its President Shri Tariq Dar, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss initiatives aimed at promoting Kashmir’s artisans, craftspeople, and Geographical Indication (GI) registered products.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the foundation’s ongoing efforts in cultural preservation, artisan welfare, and promotion of traditional crafts, emphasising the importance of empowering local communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The discussions also focused on the upcoming PEMA Foundation 2025 Artisan Award Ceremony, an event designed to recognise, incentivise, and elevate master craftspeople across Jammu & Kashmir. The foundation aims to celebrate the contributions of artisans while encouraging the growth of indigenous crafts and heritage products.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha appreciated the initiatives and emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting cultural heritage, promoting GI-registered products, and enhancing the welfare of artisans and craftsmen in the Union Territory.
