Srinagar, 26 September , 2025: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, on Friday announced the reopening of 12 major tourist destinations across the Union Territory, following a detailed security review during the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting. These destinations were temporarily closed as a precautionary measure after the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists on April 22, 2025.
Out of the 12 tourist and religious sites, seven are in Kashmir Division while five are in Jammu Division. The decision has been taken to revive tourism activity and reassure visitors of safe travel experiences in the region.
The tourist spots to reopen from Monday, September 29, 2025, include:
- Kashmir Division: Aru Valley, Rafting Point Yanner, Akkad Park, Padshahi Park Bijbehara, Dara Shikoh Garden (Anantnag), Kaman Post, and Eco-Park Khadniyar (Baramulla).
- Jammu Division: Dagan Top (Ramban), Dhaggar (Kathua), Chinkah (Reasi), Shiv Cave in Salal (Reasi), and Padri (Doda).
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring security, peace, and the revival of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a lifeline for the region’s economy.
This move is expected to boost tourist inflow ahead of the upcoming holiday season, promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a safe and vibrant tourist destination once again.
