Pulwama, 23 September,2025: As part of the #AngikaarCampaign2025, the District Administration Pulwama on Tuesday organised a mega outreach programme – “PM Awas Mela (Shehri)” aimed at creating awareness and facilitating beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U).
The event featured a vibrant ‘Run for Housing’, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, youth, and local residents. A series of departmental stalls were also set up to provide information on government schemes, along with on-spot PMAY-U registrations for eligible beneficiaries.
The mela witnessed cultural performances, competitions, and a plantation drive, highlighting the government’s vision of sustainable housing and community development. Officials said that the initiative is part of a larger effort to ensure that maximum urban households in Pulwama benefit from the housing for all mission.
Speaking on the occasion, officers from the Urban Local Bodies and Housing Department stressed the importance of public participation in realising the dream of safe, affordable, and eco-friendly housing. They also underlined the convergence of different welfare schemes under the Angikaar campaign, including health, sanitation, and livelihood support.
Local residents and participants appreciated the initiative, saying that such outreach programmes help build awareness and bridge the gap between the government and people at the grassroots.
The District Administration assured that more such activities will be carried out across urban areas of Pulwama to achieve 100% saturation of beneficiaries under PMAY-U.
