SRINAGAR, September 18, 2025 – In a significant step towards empowering women’s health nationwide, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, virtually participated in the grand launch of the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ (Healthy Women, Empowered Families Campaign) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh. The event, held on September 17, 2025, underscores the government’s commitment to women’s wellness and coincides with the PM’s 75th birthday celebrations.The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, a 16-day national health drive from September 17 to October 2, 2025, aims to provide comprehensive screenings, services, and awareness on critical issues like menstrual hygiene, balanced nutrition, and overall well-being for women and children.
Described as the largest-ever health outreach for women in India, the campaign will feature over one lakh health camps across government facilities, ensuring accessible, quality care and community-driven behavioral change.Addressing health officials during the virtual attendance, Sakeena Itoo urged the Jammu & Kashmir Health Department to swiftly implement the women’s health campaign throughout the Union Territory. “This Abhiyaan is a beacon for maternal and child health; we must ensure its reach to every corner of J&K,” she emphasized, calling for widespread awareness through electronic, print, and social media platforms to maximize participation. The Minister expressed profound gratitude to PM Modi for initiating this dedicated Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivarprogram, highlighting its role in fostering Nari Shakti (women’s power) as a pillar of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.The launch in Dhar, a tribal heartland of Madhya Pradesh, was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and marked the foundation stone laying for the country’s first PM Mitra Park, promising economic boosts for local farmers and youth. PM Modi, in his address, dedicated the campaign to “mothers and sisters for their healthy future,” urging women to utilize the health camps for timely screenings and preventive care.In synergy with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month), the initiative is jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda appealed for participation from private hospitals and stakeholders under the ‘Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyaan’ (People’s Participation Campaign) to amplify its impact.This development aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved regions. In J&K, the Health Department has been directed to organize local camps and outreach programs, integrating the campaign with existing maternal health schemes to build a robust framework for drug-free, healthy societies – echoing recent initiatives like #SewaParv seminars on de-addiction.
