Srinagar, September 18,2025:A delegation of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), led by its Chairman Shri Manzoor Wangnoo, called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the Lt Governor about the ongoing initiatives of NLCO aimed at lake conservation, water body restoration, and environmental sustainability in Jammu and Kashmir. Shri Wangnoo briefed the LG on community-driven efforts for the revival of Nigeen Lake and associated water channels, stressing the importance of continued government support to protect these vital ecological assets.
The NLCO team highlighted challenges related to pollution, encroachments, and unregulated waste disposal in and around the lake, and sought the administration’s intervention for stricter enforcement of conservation laws. They also emphasised the need for greater public awareness and active community participation in safeguarding the region’s fragile ecosystem.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha appreciated the efforts of the NLCO in promoting lake conservation in Kashmir, assuring full cooperation from the administration in strengthening environmental protection measures and sustainable tourism around water bodies.
