Srinagar, Sept 15: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday flagged off the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) parcel train from Budgam Railway Station to New Delhi, marking a significant step in boosting logistics and trade connectivity between the Union Territory and the national capital.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Indian Railways, is aimed at providing a faster, reliable, and cost-effective mode of transportation for perishable goods, horticultural produce, and industrial cargo. Officials said the service will particularly benefit fruit growers, farmers, and traders in Kashmir by ensuring timely delivery of consignments to major markets across India.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Manoj Sinha said the JPP-RCS parcel train service will open new avenues for economic growth, agricultural exports, and trade efficiency in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the government is committed to strengthening infrastructure and creating better market linkages for the people of the UT.
The service is expected to not only reduce transportation costs but also enhance competitiveness of Kashmir’s horticulture sector, which contributes significantly to the local economy.
