Poonch, 15 September 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced the construction of 1,500 three-room houses for families affected by recent floods as well as those who suffered due to Pakistani shelling and the Pahalgam terror attack. The decision has been widely welcomed by residents of Poonch district, who described it as a timely relief measure.
The initiative aims to provide permanent housing solutions to displaced and vulnerable families, ensuring safer living conditions and long-term rehabilitation. Officials said the housing units will be equipped with basic facilities to help restore normalcy to those who lost their homes in natural calamities or cross-border hostilities.
Local residents expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir administration, noting that the announcement reflects the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, rehabilitation, and security in border areas.
The move also highlights the UT administration’s focus on strengthening disaster relief measures, rehabilitation of terror-affected families, and welfare of border residents who frequently face challenges due to shelling and adverse weather conditions.
