Ramban, September 10: After remaining suspended for eight consecutive days due to landslides, shooting stones, and heavy rains, vehicular traffic finally resumed on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Ramban district .
Authorities worked round-the-clock to clear massive debris and restore connectivity on the vital highway, which serves as the lifeline of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring the supply of essential goods, fuel, and daily commodities to the Valley.
The prolonged closure had caused hardships for commuters, transporters, and thousands of stranded passengers, while trade and supply chains were severely hit. Officials confirmed that both light motor vehicles (LMVs) and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) have now been allowed to ply, though with regulated movement to ensure safety.
Locals and travellers expressed relief over the restoration of traffic, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the road clearance teams and district administration in Ramban.
