The University of Kashmir hosted its Mega Alumni Meet-2025 in Srinagar, a significant event that brought together distinguished alumni, dignitaries, and academic leaders to celebrate the institution’s legacy of excellence. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the chief guest, lauded the university for its outstanding contributions to academia and the remarkable achievements of its alumni, emphasizing that the institution stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the nation’s best in research and reputation.The event was graced by prominent figures, including Chief Justice of India Justice B R Gavai, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan. The welcome address was delivered by former Chief Justice of J&K High Court Justice Ali Mohammad Magray. Other notable attendees included Supreme Court judges, Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh High Court Justice Arun Palli, former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, and MP Mian Altaf Ahmad, alongside a diverse group of alumni excelling in fields like law, governance, medicine, business, and academia.In his address, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlighted two key pillars of an institution’s success: the quality of its research and the accomplishments of its alumni. He praised the University of Kashmir for meeting national benchmarks in both areas, noting that its graduates have earned widespread respect for their contributions across various sectors, both in India and globally. He emphasized the importance of alumni engagement, urging them to give back to their alma mater by mentoring current and future students. “Kashmir University has given you a lot. If you could, even occasionally, return the favour through your efforts and experience, it would greatly benefit the students,” he said, encouraging alumni to serve as role models to inspire the next generation.The event also featured the felicitation of distinguished alumni, whom the Chief Minister congratulated for their outstanding achievements. He expressed hope that future students would continue the university’s legacy of excellence, bringing pride to Jammu and Kashmir and India as a whole.
