Shopian, August 22, 2025 – A significant Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was convened at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Zainapora, Shopian, under the guidance of the Director School Education, Kashmir. The event aimed to strengthen parental involvement in the teaching-learning process, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance student outcomes and teacher accountability.The grand PTM saw an impressive turnout of parents, civil society members, students, alumni, and former staff, reflecting strong community engagement. The Principal of GHSS Zainapora, in his address, underscored the critical role of parents in shaping their children’s academic and personal growth. He emphasised that effective education requires active parental participation alongside teacher efforts, urging parents to regularly interact with educators, monitor their child’s progress, and provide constructive feedback for institutional improvement.Discussions focused on students’ academic performance, behavioural development, and participation in extracurricular activities. Parents were encouraged to support their children’s learning at home, aligning with school initiatives to bridge learning gaps.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in education, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for community-driven education and parental involvement through platforms like the Holistic Progress Card (HPC).The event fostered a sense of shared responsibility, with parents and teachers collaborating to address challenges and celebrate student achievements.
This PTM is part of a broader initiative by the Department of School Education, Kashmir, to revitalise public trust in government schools and promote holistic education from August 9 to September 5, 2025.
