Jammu, August 18, 2025 — Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway (NH-144A) project, inspecting key stretches across Package 1, Package 2, Package 3A, and Package 3B, covering areas such as Bhagwati Nagar, Ganesh Vihar, Muthi, Domana, Ambaran, Chak Singha, and Hanuman Chowk.General Manager of the Project Management Unit, NHIDCL, Col. Ajat Shatroo Jamwal, briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the project’s current status, highlighting progress on the four-laning and upgradation of the 25-km corridor aimed at enhancing connectivity between Jammu and Akhnoor. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is overseeing the ₹1,345 crore project, which is designed to reduce travel time from over an hour to under 40 minutes, boosting tourism and socio-economic growth in the region.During the inspection, DC Minhas assessed challenges and bottlenecks hindering progress, issuing directives for swift execution to ensure timely completion.
He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among departments to resolve issues and assured full administrative support to NHIDCL. A timeline of eight months has been set to complete the remaining work, aligning with the projected completion date of December 2025 for all packages.The Jammu-Akhnoor Corridor, part of NH-144A, includes significant infrastructure upgrades, such as J&K’s longest flyover from Canal Head to Ganesh Vihar Muthi, which has already been completed under Package 2.
