‘My Father Was My Shoulder — Today I Feel That Shoulder Has Returned’: Justice in Baramulla My sister sent me the order. I was not in Kashmir and I fell ill with excitement, said the son of a terror victim on seeing his appointment order after losing his father to terror years ago. I sent my brother the order and he could not believe it. He did not know what happened to him but he fell ill. When he came home and went to see a doctor, he said that nothing has happened. He is just too happy to handle his emotions. Recalling the day these children’s father never returned home, the terror victim’s elder brother said that day we had morning tea and then went to work. We are four brothers and three sisters, He was our youngest brother. He had two children. The daughter was 40 days old at that time and his son was one-and-a-half year old. My youngest brother also went for work after his tea. He was working as a driver for our neighbour. I heard from house members that after having lunch my youngest brother went back. A big convoy of the Army was going at that time. Then we heard a loud bang and then noise of firing taking place. Firing happened on the roads and on buildings and everbody layed down flat on the ground. I ran in the forest toward Nehalpora. In Nehalpora I heard people saying that a young driver from Pattan who worked for Satnam Singh Oberoi was hit in the head with bullets. I suspected it was my brother. I returned from there and went to the hospital and came to know that my brother had died and his body was taken to the police station. I went to the police station but could never know what exactly happened. My dead brother’s children stayed with my father for some months, who was alive then. Then the children’s aunt (Father’s sister) brought these two children up till his daughter was 18 and the son was 20 year old. Their education was also taken care by her. The daughter of the terror victim said she was five months old and does not remember a thing about her childhood or her father. I was with my mother till one or two years. Then my Phuphi (father’s sister) took me with her. There my Phuphi took care of my education and clothes. I am eleventh pass. Her brother said that after growing up, expenses too grow. I started labour work. I gave 5 Semesters and money issue was arising. I went to Saudi Arabia. The sister said that till 2021 my brother used to come and meet her then he went to Saudi Arabia. He used to work as a waiter there. He came home after two years and after seven months he went back again. Her brother Umar said that he had watched a news and video where the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha was saying that there should be justice in all the SRO killing cases that have taken place. He said, I know that all of you have been waiting for justice for years and I want to say that today that waiting is over. In July I got a call from the department that I have to come to Baramulla. Umar said he cannot come then they said send someone from your house. Then I called my sister, She went to Baramulla and took the order from LG Sir. I was very happy. My brother Umar called me to say that he got a call regarding SRO case and we have to go to Baramulla. I said, no problem, I will go. Then I went to Baramulla and in the SRO section met Javed Sir. He talked to me very nicely. He said LG Sir has given a form. Then I filled the form and submitted it. Then Javed said we will call you and please come on that day. Then we got a call in the evening to come to Baramulla. The next day I went to Baramulla and was informed that I had to take some orders. There. LG Saheb was there and a lot of people had come. I went on the stage and was given the order by LG Sir himself. I am very thankful to him. He did it for us orphan children. He did it for my brother. May God keep him safe always. I am very grateful to our LG Saheb, our Prime Minister, DC saheb, SSP saheb and the officer in Baramulla. Whenever we used to go he encouraged us to not lose hope. He used to talk nicely and made us believe that something good will happen for orphaned children. Now I am happy that my brother will progress with this order. I haven’t had a home till today. Umar said when his job was not there, nobody used to care for him. Now everyone is calling me with respect after LG saheb has given my order. All those who don’t have a father or a mother, their prayers are coming only for LG Saheb. Umar’s sister said happily that she was grateful that LG Saheb had made the life for her brother who will now be able to fulfill his dreams. My father was my shoulder, today I feel my shoulder has come back. Umar remarked.https://youtu.be/mr9cSHhszPw
