Kashmir, August 1, 2025 — To accommodate the surge in pilgrims and passengers during the festive season, Northern Railway has introduced a reserved special train service between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This initiative aims to ensure a comfortable and seamless journey for travelers heading to the holy shrine during the peak festive period.According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway, the special train, numbered 04081/04082, will operate for three trips in each direction.
Train 04081 will depart from New Delhi to Katra on August 14, 15, and 16, 2025, at 11:45 PM, arriving at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 11:40 AM the following day. In the return direction, Train 04082 will leave Katra at 9:20 PM on August 15, 16, and 17, 2025, reaching New Delhi by 10:30 AM the next morning.The train will include AC, sleeper, and general class coaches to cater to diverse passenger needs. It will halt at key stations, including Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantt, Dhandari Kalan, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan, ensuring accessibility for passengers across the route.This special service is part of Northern Railway’s broader effort to manage the festive rush, with over 3,000 special train trips planned from October 1 to November 30, 2024, to connect major destinations like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Varanasi.
The initiative also includes adding 49 extra coaches to regular trains to provide 1,70,434 additional berths, compared to 1,48,750 in 2023.Northern Railway has urged travelers to utilize this service for a hassle-free journey to the Vaishno Devi shrine, a popular pilgrimage destination during festivals.
