Srinagar, July 30, 2025:
In a major success for India’s counter-terrorism efforts, three Pakistani terrorists involved in the recent Pahalgam terror attack were neutralised during a joint operation led by the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The operation, codenamed Operation Mahadev, was carried out in south Kashmir.
The update was confirmed following a high-level briefing by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, and Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, GOC 15 Corps, to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
LG Manoj Sinha, while congratulating the security forces, said,
“I commend the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police for their exemplary coordination and swift action in Operation Mahadev. The elimination of these terrorists is a befitting reply to those responsible for the heinous Pahalgam attack. The nation stands united against terrorism.”
The slain terrorists were identified as Pakistani nationals affiliated with a Pakistan-based terror outfit. They had infiltrated into the region with the intention of launching further attacks on civilians and security personnel.
Based on precise intelligence inputs, a coordinated cordon and search operation was launched. After a brief but intense exchange of fire, all three terrorists were neutralized. Arms, ammunition, and incriminating material were recovered from the site.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which took place earlier this month, resulted in the loss of innocent lives and injuries to several civilians and personnel. The successful conclusion of Operation Mahadev has been termed a high-value counter-terror win, ensuring safety and security in the region.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration, under the leadership of LG Manoj Sinha, continues to emphasise zero tolerance toward terrorism, reiterating its commitment to restoring long-term peace in the Union Territory.
