Shopian, July 28 — A zonal level programme under the banner of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) was organised today at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Shopian, with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of girl child education and promote gender equality.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and officials from the education department. A series of competitions including painting, essay writing, and slogan writing were held to encourage young minds to express their views on empowerment of girls and their role in building a progressive society.
“Educating a girl is not just about literacy — it’s about empowering a future mother, a leader, a changemaker,” said a senior education official addressing the students.
Winners of the competitions were felicitated with certificates and prizes, in recognition of their creativity and commitment to the cause. The programme also featured speeches and presentations highlighting the need for equal opportunities for girls in education, health, and leadership.
Organised under the guidance of the District Administration and Education Department, the event is part of a wider outreach to promote the objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme at the grassroots level in South Kashmir.
