Srinagar, July 28 — As India marks five years of the transformative National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host a vibrant celebration — #NEPMela — on July 29, bringing together students, educators, policymakers, and cultural voices under one roof.
The event, themed “Paigam: From Policy to Practice”, aims to highlight how NEP 2020 is not just a document, but a living, breathing shift in how learning, teaching, and thinking are being redefined in India — especially in J&K’s evolving education landscape.
The #NEPMela will include debates, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and a rich display of local cultural performanaces, making it a blend of intellectual insight and artistic celebration. From early childhood education to vocational skill-building, voices from across the spectrum will share how NEP is shaping young minds across Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come — and how much more we can do. NEP has brought flexibility, creativity, and Indian values into the heart of education,” said an education department official.
Students from various districts, including remote and tribal areas, will participate in storytelling, exhibitions, and performances that showcase regional identity, multilingual learning, and experiential education — core principles of NEP 2020.
Organised by the School Education Department in collaboration with Higher Education and Skill Development Departments, the event is expected to witness active participation from teachers, students, and innovators, creating a powerful message of inclusion, equity, and reform.
