Her Father Was Killed Before She Was Born, Her Mother Left—Today LG Manoj Sinha Offers a Ray of Hope In 2000, miltants caught my brother and took him away in the forest. Then they shot him two-three bullets and left him on a pucca road. I came to know of the militants catching my younger brother when he did not return home and his family came crying on my doorstep the next morning at 7 am saying militants had taken away Faroukh, that was the name of my brother. Then I ran in that direction. I ran towards the jungle. A lady was coming from the opposite direction. Then I heard three gun shots. The lady said they have killed your brother. Upon reaching the spot, I saw my brother lying in a pool of blood. His hands were trying to grope mud. I hugged my brother. But he died. His wife was pregnant at that time. Later she got married. The child she was bearing was a girl and we brought her up. I was in my mother’s womb when my father was killed by the militants. I think when I was three months or six months old, my mother enetered into a second marriage and abandoned me at my grandmother’s place. Then by paying Rs 50,000 my Chachu and Chachi brought me with them. My Chachu and Chachi raised me up. My uncle and aunt never let me feel the absence of my parents. They raised and educated me like their own children. They got me married. Why did it have to happen to my young brother, asks his elder brother. There is no one to listen to our woes. Only the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha saheb listens to us, otherwise there is no one to listen to us. If there was somebody to listen, this wouldn’t have been an issue. They raped this child. They were assaulting her. She filed a case but there is no solution only dates are given. Where are our governments? When the Lieutenent Governor told us about this scheme of giving appointments letters on compassionate grounds to forgotten terror victims’ next of kin, since then a hope has arisen in our hearts that someone is there to listen to us. If there is, then it is the LG Saheb and Modi ji. Earlier governments like the Congress, PDP, National Conference we went to them with documents but they shooed us away from the door. No one said that she is an orphaned child and we must help her. Ever since LG Saheb gave this knowledge and asked us to come to Srinagar, it feels like our brother has come alive again. We went to Srinagar and we told him about our case then LG said that he will bring up the SRO Case and asked for a month’s time. We are very grateful to the Lieutenant Governor who thought about us and is doing something, said the daughter of the terror victim. The governments in the past never thought about us. Ever since Modi saheb’s government has come, there has been peace in the entire Kashmir region. Earlier, we did not leave the house after three o’clock because we feared someone would come and kill us, said her Chacha. Today I see that the shops are open till 10 o’clock and if we pass by, there is no problem. This is the kindness of our Modi saheb. Slowly the situation is improving. BJP government has brought peace for us, has brought peace and tranquility, said the terror victim’s elder brother.
