Srinagar, July 26:The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has called upon the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to take urgent steps for the revival of Jammu and Kashmir’s struggling industrial sector. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the FCIK highlighted the challenges faced by local industrial units and urged the central government to implement targeted support measures.
The organisation stressed that the MSME sector in J&K has suffered due to policy gaps, lack of incentives, and post-COVID economic slowdowns, which have led to operational disruptions, job losses, and reduced investment. FCIK has requested the ministry to roll out a comprehensive revival package including financial assistance, interest subsidies, marketing support, and ease of doing business reforms.
“The industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir needs focused intervention. Many MSMEs are on the verge of closure due to cash flow issues and limited market access,” an FCIK spokesperson stated.
FCIK also emphasised the importance of including J&K-specific policies under the national MSME development framework, and called for immediate dialogue between stakeholders and policymakers.
Industry leaders believe that a coordinated approach involving credit facilitation, infrastructure upgrades, and export promotion is essential to bring J&K’s industrial ecosystem back on track.
