Srinagar, July 26: In a continued effort to ensure a hygienic and safe pilgrimage experience for devotees, Director General Rural Sanitation, Ms. Anoo Malhotra, undertook a detailed inspection along the Amarnath Yatra route from Nunwan Base Camp to the Holy Cave, travelling via Sheshnag with an overnight halt at Panjtarni.
During the visit, Ms. Malhotra conducted an on-ground review of cleanliness measures, evaluated waste management systems, and assessed the deployment of sanitation staff at various strategic locations. Her visit aimed to ensure that all necessary sanitation protocols are in place to support the large number of yatris undertaking the sacred pilgrimage.
She interacted with field teams and local officials to assess operational efficiency and emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene across all camps and halting points along the yatra route.
Speaking during the inspection, Ms. Malhotra said, “A clean and safe environment is crucial for the comfort and wellbeing of all pilgrims. Our teams are working tirelessly to ensure that waste is managed effectively and sanitation facilities are consistently available.”
The ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2025 has witnessed a high footfall, placing additional emphasis on infrastructure and support services in the high-altitude regions of South Kashmir.
