Srinagar, July 21, 2025: In a powerful address in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor ManojSinha reaffirmed the administration’s ironclad resolve to eradicate terrorism from the Union Territory, emphasizing a vision for lasting peace rooted in justice rather than temporary measures. “We are not here tobuy peace but to build a just peace that endures. No innocent will face harm, but the guilty will not be spared,”Sinha declared, signaling a zero-tolerance policy toward terror activities.
Speaking at a public event, Sinha praised the J&K Police for their relentless efforts in dismantling the terror ecosystem, targeting not only terrorists but also their financial and logistical networks. “The police are the backbone of our fight. They are tasked with cutting off every artery that sustains terrorism,” he said. He criticized historical oversights where terror sympathizers were rewarded with government jobs while victims of terrorism were sidelined, vowing to correct such injustices.
Sinha highlighted the transformation of Naya J&K, where the region has shed its past of violence and separatism. “The days of stone-pelting and shutdowns are gone. Today, our youth hold pens and laptops, schools and colleges thrive, and the hum of industry echoes across J&K,” he said. He pointed to cultural milestones like the revival of Muharram processions, bustling Eid Melas, and vibrant nightlife at Lal Chowkand Jhelum River Front as signs of a fearless, prospering society.Economically, Sinha noted that J&K’s economy has doubled in five years, fueled by over 5,000 new hotels and significant investments under the new Industrial Development Scheme. However, he accused Pakistan of attempting to derail this progress, citing the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. “This was a Pakistan-sponsored act to sow fear and disrupt communal harmony, but the people of J&K stood united, foiling their plans,” he said.
Sinha also emphasized ongoing efforts to deliver justice to terror victims. On July 13, 2025, he distributed appointment letters to the kin of 40 victims in Baramulla, a step toward addressing decades of neglect. “These families were silenced for too long. We are restoring their dignity, returning usurped properties, and providing government jobs,” he said.
Calling for public support for security forces, Sinha stressed, “Peace is justice, opportunity, and hope in action. We are committed to making it permanent.” He noted a sharp decline in terror recruitment, with only one local joining terror ranks in 2025, compared to 150 annually in previous years.Referencing Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, Sinha warned Pakistan and terror groups in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) of severe repercussions for future aggressions. “Our response will be swift and decisive. Pakistan is on notice,” he asserted.
