Srinagar, July 19, 2025 – J&K Bank has taken a significant step in empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir by disbursing job loans under the government’s flagship initiative, Mission YUVA (Mission Youth for Unemployment and Vocation Advancement). The bank organized multiple ‘Roz-e-YUVA’ events in Kashmir and ‘Udyami YUVA Day’ events in Jammu, distributing hundreds of loan sanction letters to aspiring entrepreneurs across the Union Territory. These efforts aim to foster self-employment and sustainable livelihoods among the region’s predominantly young population.
The main event was held at Government Degree College, Ganderbal, where J&K Bank MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee handed over sanction letters in the presence of Mission Director Shahzad Alam and Deputy Commissioner Gatin Kishore. Similar programs took place in districts like Srinagar, Kupwara, Samba, and Ramban, with 40 loan sanctions distributed in Samba and 41 in Ramban. The bank announced that such events will occur weekly throughout the Mission YUVA campaign to ensure widespread outreach.
Chatterjee emphasized the transformative potential of the initiative, stating, “Mission YUVA reflects a shared vision of inclusive growth and youth-driven development. These loans are investments in J&K’s economic future.” The bank offers seamless, app-based registration and extensive counseling to support beneficiaries. Mission YUVA provides financial assistance, including subsidies and loans, to help youth establish ventures in sectors like transport, agriculture, and small businesses, aligning with the government’s goal of addressing unemployment.
