Srinagar, July 20, 2025 – The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has crossed a remarkable milestone, with over three lakh pilgrims completing the sacred journey to the holy cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced this achievement on Sunday, crediting the success to divine blessings.
LG Sinha shared his delight, stating, “With the grace of Baba Amarnath Ji, the pilgrimage has crossed the 3 lakh mark today. This sacred journey offers a profound spiritual experience. May Baba’s blessings bring peace, strength, and fulfillment to all. Har Har Mahadev!”The 38-day pilgrimage, which began on July 3, 2025, and will conclude on August 9, has witnessed a significant increase in devotees this year. Pilgrims from across India and beyond have flocked to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine, accessible via the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has ensured smooth operations, bolstered by enhanced infrastructure, robust security, and effective coordination between civil administration and security forces, despite occasional weather challenges.
The milestone comes in the wake of a tragic terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which claimed 25 tourists and a local pony wala, yet the resilience of devotees and authorities has kept the Yatra vibrant.
