Jammu & Kashmir, July 2025: The Panchayat Accountability Index 2.0 workshops conducted across Jammu and Kashmir have achieved remarkable success, ensuring maximum coverage and high-quality compliance through robust monitoring mechanisms. This large-scale capacity-building initiative, aimed at strengthening grassroots governance, saw active participation and coordination at all levels of the Panchayati Raj framework.
The Assistant Commissioner Panchayats (ACPs), in collaboration with the State Panchayat Resource Centre (SPRC) and District Panchayat Resource Centres (DPRCs), played a pivotal role in planning, executing, and monitoring these workshops. Their concerted efforts led to efficient outreach, improved training outcomes, and enhanced institutional accountability across districts.
The PAI 2.0 initiative focused on evaluating and improving the performance of Panchayati Raj Institutions by equipping local officials with the tools and knowledge required for transparent and participatory governance. Through the workshops, officials were sensitized on indicators such as service delivery, fiscal transparency, grievance redressal, and people-centric planning.
Officials noted that real-time tracking, feedback loops, and strict adherence to quality benchmarks made the workshops more impactful and outcome-oriented, setting a new standard for governance-related capacity building in the region.
This success underlines the Government of Jammu & Kashmir’s commitment to empowering panchayats as vital institutions of local self-governance and ensuring last-mile delivery of public services with transparency and accountability.
