Rural Haat is now regularly organised in Poonch managed by UMEED J&K. Sahida, a beneficiary says, the UMEED scheme has given us rural women a lot of benefits. First of all, the women are feeling good about themselves. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign is another scheme helping women. Japneet, another beneficiary says, there were many women who were not aware of the UMEED scheme. Now that the scheme is operational in Poonch district, many women will associate with it. This scheme helps to remove unemployment issues. The variety of products displayed at the Rural Haat gives a glimpse of the talent residing in these women. Indigenous handicrafts like hand woven cane baskets, cushion covers, and local food such as pickles, jams, and many other items are being produced by the rural women of Poonch. Nazma Mir, another beneficiary of the UMEED scheme says, whatever we make/produce we can sell at the Rural Haat. So more women in Poonch should start their livelihood and get rid of unemployment. Indu Kanwal Chib , Mission Director JKRLM says, a Rural Haat bench is organised. The Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha has given the idea of a Rural Haat and he has said that every village in Jammu & Kashmir should have a rural haat. On the basis of his instructions, the DC Poonch facilitated us in giving this Rural Haat. The Poonch women come here to do their work, or for meetings, and to sell their products. Apart from this, there are various UMEED centres running where they get training. National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) is a big scheme under which UMEED functions. A lot of funding comes for this scheme which aims at uplifting rural women. The women can derive huge benefits from this scheme, says JKRLM Mission Director, Indu Kanwal Chib. The women beneficiaries are grateful to the government and J&K administration for running this scheme. The beneficiaries want other women to also associate with the scheme and take advantage.
